__/ BOSTON MARATHON, MONDAY, APRIL 17 - TV COVERAGE - The OLN Network will show the Boston Marathon in real time from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on Monday. The broadcast will repeat at 5:00 pm the same day. We'll be following the eight Hanson-Brooks athletes who are running Boston for the first time. They'll be easy to spot in their red and yellow singlets. Stewart Healey and Gary Morgan will be running and reporting for Michigan Runner.

__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: AN INTERVIEW WITH JACQUELINE GAREAU - 26 years ago this week Jacqueline Gareau of Montreal, Quebec, won the 84th Boston Marathon and also set a course record. Gareau did not get to wear the winner's laurel wreath the day she won, because another women cheated the course and got the glory that day. Michigan Runner spoke with Jacqueline Gareau during the Walt Disney Marathon Weekend about her running career and running in the first women's Olympic marathon.

-- ROYAL OAK, APRIL 5 - Greg Meyer joined Brian Sell, Trent Briney and several of their Brooks Hanson Teammates and coaches Keith and Kevin Hanson, for dinner at BD's Monglian Barbecue in Royal Oak-- the original BD's Mongolian Barbecue by the way. Joann Barnas, John Brabbs and others of us from the media joined them, too. Greg told Boston stories and talked about strategies for racing different parts of the Boston marathon course. Greg offered ideas about winning the mental race, as well.

It was absolutely fascinating to listen as Greg revealed his competitive nature. We know he has once since he won Boston in 1983-- the last American man to have done so. Clint Verran and Chad Johnson couldn't be there, but six of the eight Hanson-Brooks athletes who are running Boston did attend: Trent Briney, Brian Sell, Luke Humphrey, Mike Morgan, Marty Rosendahl, and Kyle O'Brien.

Greg asked if anyone had run Boston previously. One hand went up-- that of Michigan Runner publisher, Art McCafferty. Art ran Boston sometime in the early '80's and says he would have had his PR if he hadn't stopped to kiss all those girls in Wellesley.

- Come run the WYLD Bill 5K, at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 29, then stay to watch one of Michigan's top college track meets. Your race entry fee includes admission to the meet. This is the meet at which Paul Aufdemberge broke the American Masters record for 10,000 meters on the track. __/ FOLLOW FIFTH THIRD RIVER BANK RUN REALITY RUNNING TEAMS - "In February, 10 people were selected from over 100 applications to take part in the first Fifth Third River Bank Run Reality Running Team. As you can see from profiles posted on the Web, running experience varies on the team from those who have successfully completed marathons to others who will be experiencing their first 25K event. All of them have a unique story which has led them to this point in their lives.

Continuing to race day, Reality Running Team members will be participating in a variety of training activities to assist them in completing the Fifth Third River Bank Run 25K on Saturday, May 13.
