__/ DEXTER ANN ARBOR RUN, SUNDAY, JUNE 3 - One of Michigan's classic races, the 34th annual Dexter-Ann Arbor Run, has been hosted by the Ann Arbor Track Club every year since the first one in 1974. New race director, Hal Wolfe, and his team have some new features and changes, including:

Expo (2-6pm) & Kids Run (4pm) are at Ypsi High, Saturday, June 2. Taste of Ann Arbor tickets at are available with a 50% discount at the Expo Both the 5K and 10K courses have changed Start times for 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon are now staggared. __/ DODGE PARK 3.1 MILE RUN, SATURDAY, JUNE 2 - 2006 champions Matt Fecht and Sara Gerhardt could be among the 250+ runners competing for the winners title at the Dodge Park 3.1 Mile Run. The Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Department is putting on the 31st edition of the race on June 3. Expect serious competition as this race typically attrachts high school and college track stars in peak condition. Race begins at 8:00 am in scenic Dodge Park. __/ ONLINE REGISTRATION OPENS FOR 32ND VOLKSLAUFE, FRANKENMUTH, JULY 4 - The Frankenmuth Jaycees have organized the Volkslaufe - The People's Race in Frankenmuth ever since the nation's bicentennial in 1976. __/ CAPITAL CITY RIVER RUN, LANSING, SUNDAY, SEPT. 30 - Come September, the Capital City River Run is making the change from a 10 mile race to a certified half-marathon. It is not a "race walk" but participants should know that they CANNOT run if entered as a walker. All entrants will receive a front and back bib. They will start with the 10-Mile Runners and will be monitored throughout the course. Awards will be given and each finisher will receive a medal."

-- RITZ SETS RECORD AT HEALTH KIDNEY 10K; DONATES CHECK TO NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION- Dathan Ritzenhein returned to racing in New York on Saturday and won a very competitive 10K in 28:08, setting a new course record in the process. That new course record was good for a $20,000 bonus. Ritz donated the $7,500 first place prize money to the National Kidney Foundation. -- ADIDAS TRACK CLASSIC, CARSON, CALIFORNIA, MAY 21 -- Nick Willis (New Zealand/Michigan/Reebok) made his 3:35.85 1500 look easy-- winning over a field including Alistair Cragg, Rob Myers, Adam Goucher and others. -- Ken Ferguson (Detroit Mumford/Los Angeles) won the 400 meter hurdles in 48:15 and found himself eligible for the World Championships in Athletics in Osaka, Japan later this summer. "This was a great field on a fast track. It was the perfect race. I was on the outside so I had to concentrate on my race. I'm just trying to make my first team."

__ BIG TEN OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS, STATE COLLEGE, PA, MAY 11-13 -- U-M's Bettie Wade, Anna Willard Receive Big Ten Awards - University of Michigan women's track and field sophomore co-captain Bettie Wade (Northville, Mich./Farmington HS) was named the Big Ten women's Field Athlete of the Year and of the Championships, while graduate/senior teammate Anna Willard (Greenwood, Maine/Telstar Regional HS) was named the women's Track Athlete of the Year and of the Championships, announced Wednesday (May 15) by the conference office. Anna Willard won three events: steeplelchase, 1500 & 5000 meter runs.
