__/ NOW ON MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: OUR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIW WITH JEAN DRISCOLL

Michigan Runner TV editor Katie Delcamp, a senior at Eastern Michigan University, found out that Jean Driscoll, the only eight-time winner of the Boston Marathon and a wheelchair athlete, would be speaking in Michigan. Since Jean retired from competitive racing in 2000, she has been a sought-after motivational speaker. Katie conducted the interview with Jean during the Michigan Spina-Bifida Annual Conference in Novi. http:://michiganrunner.tv/2003driscoll/

__/ BORGESS RUN CAMP BEGINS FIRST SERIES SATURDAY

After a successful 2002, the Borgess Run Camp is expanding to two locations. The Camp offer both 13 week and 8 week programs at both the Borgess Health & Fitness Center, 3025 Gull Road, Kalamazoo and also the Portage Family YMCA, 2900 W. Centre St. The camp features speakers, trainers, tips on race techniques and gradually increasing weekly runs to help both novice and advanced runners get in shape for the Borgess Run for the Health of It 5K and National City Half Marathon on April 26. The 13 week camp, which offers programs for both the Half Marathon and the 5K, begins Saturday, January 25 at both locations. The 8 week camp for the 5K begins March 1. For more information call (269) 552-2340 or visit http://borgessrun.com.

__/ ALAN WHITEHEAD PUTS ENERGY INTO GALYAN'S NORTHVILLE SOLSTICE RUN

In our story last week about the new Galyan's Northville Solstice Run, we failed to mention Alan Whitehead, the director of this new race in Northville. Alan is excited about the event and so are we. Here's what he told us, "Doug Kurtis and I actually had this vision about bringing back a great race to downtown Northville about three years ago. Later on I told Doug that I was willing to direct it he agreed to assist me and join the staff. We approached Northville Parks and Rec Dept. (Traci Sincock) on working together with all proceeds to enrich their programs and activities.

"Since then I have spent the majority of my time marketing the event and adding major sponsors. I secured Galyan's and Comcast to start and then later sponsors such as Michigan Runner Magazine! We have added experienced staff since with Jerry Mittman, Mark Cryderman, and Craig Meisel. BARS in Brighton has also offered to assist us with the event and we have accepted!"

__/ ANOTHER ROCKFORD COACH RESIGNS

Last February, the Rockford High School running powerhouse lost Coach Brad Prins in the midst of a controversy. Then, last Friday, the Grand Rapids Press reported that the boys cross country and distance coach, Mark Nesser, is leaving the program. The Grand Rapids Press quoted Nesser: "It was a difficult decision, but it was my choice."

Nesser led the Rams to the 2000 and 2002 Division I Lower Peninsula Cross Country Championships and can count Jason Hartman (Oregon) and Dathan Ritzenhein (Colorado) among his successful athletes.
