__/NCAA DIVISION II, III XC FINALS COMING SATURDAY, 11/17.
Second place Wayne State men will compete for the NCAA Division II
title for the first time in school history at Slippery Rock University in
Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 17. They'll be joined by Great
Lakes Regional champion Grand Valley women and second place
Northern Michigan.
Brian Diemer's Calvin College cross country teams (both men and
women) will compete for the NCAA Division III team title in Rock Island,
Illinois, Saturday, November 17. The men return as defending
champions. Individuals Dylan Wade, Hope College and Nick
Mockeridge, Albion will also be competing.
__/NCAA DIVISION I XC FINALS COMING Monday, 11/19
Last weekend in Terre Haute, Indiana, the Michigan State Women's
Cross Country team added a Great Lakes Regional victory to their Big
10 title and earned an automatic invitation to the NCAA Division I finals
in Greenville, SC, November 19. Notre Dame's 2nd place women also
earned an automatic bid. Kalin Todebusch (Rockford HS '01) will be
running for Villanova and 4-time XC champion Katy Boyles (Rochester-
Adams '01) will be running for Cornell.
Notre Dame men (1st) and the University of Michigan men (2nd) also
earned automatic bids. The Michigan State, Butler and Wisconsin men
earned at-large bids from the strong Great Lakes Region. They'll be up
against Number 1 Colorado and strong teams from Stanford and
Arkansas. With previous victories this season over Alan Webb
(Michigan) Jorge Torres and Dathan Ritzenhein (Colorado) Eastern
Michigan's Boaz Cheboiywo is the man to beat for the individual title.
__/RITZENHEIN NAMED BIG 12 CROSS COUNTRY NEWCOMER
The University of Colorado reports that Freshman Dathan Ritzenhein
has been named the Big 12 Conference Cross Country Newcomer for
2001. Ritz's cross country team, the University of Colorado Buffaloes,
continues its No. 1 ranking going into the NCAA Division I national meet,
Monday, November 19 at Furman University, Greenville, South

__/BEDFORD PRE-NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY RACE
The Bedford Running Club is holding an open meet for the cross
country runner who wants to get in one more good race before hanging
up the spikes or is getting ready for the Footlocker Regional. This is an
individual event; no team scoring or uniforms. Indian Creek park,
