On a warm, sunny afternoon, more than one thousand runners and walkers wore identical numbers (2002) to celebrate New Years Eve at the 33rd Annual Belle Isle New Years Eve Family Fun Run and Walk. Clint Verran of the Hansons Olympic Develoment Program broke the 4 mile record with his 18:50 time. Jeff Campbell (19:21), Carl Rundell (19:23) and Paul Aufdemberge (19:59) also crossed the finish line in under 20 minutes. Sterling Heights Stevenson High School student Nicole Blake added another road race victory to her credentials with a first place 23:54 in the 4 mile.
