Michigan Runner senior photographer Carter Sherline reports that commotion reigned at the conclusion of the Mid American Conference Cross Country Championships at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio last Saturday. Eastern Michigan's Boaz Cheboiywo was in the lead until Cheboiywo came to a fork and ran in the wrong direction. A course marshall failed to get Cheboiywo's attention. Cheboiywo ran an extra kilometer and placed sixteenth in the final standings with a time of 24:59:90. Central Michigan University won the Mac Championship by one point over Eastern Michigan and Cheboiywo's teammate, Gavin Thompson, won the individual title with a course record 23:50:20. Eastern Michigan, ranked #7 nationally, is protesting the race. Central Michigan is ranked #9. For the complete story see Eastern Echo Online.
