Michigan Runners of the Year earn points for the ten best performances
in the eleven events of the Michigan Runner Race Series. 2004 is the
second year for which we have used age-grading to score the senior
runners age 50 and up. (See Table 1 on. p 7.) How do we choose those races? We look for well-run, competitive
events of standard distances that also strike a balance with Michigan
geography and the calendar . (Prize money is a good indication that an
event will be competitive.)
Finally, we mix in a trail run and a wild card to introduce Michigan
runners to some of our favorites.
What about Michigan runners who excel in high profile events in other
states?
Look for them in our March/April 2005 "Best of Times" issue. MR
