Hamilton, Ontario's Around the Bay 30K Road Race celebrated it's
111th
anniversary on March 20th, 2005. Michigan Runner TV is proud to
present
our 111th episode on this traditional and tough race-- the oldest road
race in North America. Could be this is a magic coincidence for a magic
race? The 30K race is online now; we'll have more video on the race
weekend
in coming days, including a tour of Canada's athletic and road racing
history
with 5-time Around the Bay 30K winner Gord Dickson.

COMCAST ADDS A 10K
Fifth Third Bank Solstice Run officials Alan Whitehead and Doug Kurtis
announced
a new Fifth Third Bank10K race event which will be added to the 5K run
and walk
presented by Michigan Radio and Television and the kids run presented
by
Foresters. All events are scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2005 in
Northville. The new Fifth Third Bank 10K will add parts of Northville Township to
the
historic Northville neighborhoods of the 5K. The Fifth Third Bank 10K
course
will include some rolling hills; courses for both runs are USATF certified.
A "Taste Fest" will add to the spirit of this fun and competitive event.
Presenting sponsor Comcast will expand its coverage to the new
Comcast local
channel which reaches more than 1.3 million homes in Michigan. For

PATRICK'S DAY 8K
The 2005 Michigan Runner Race Series kicked off in Bay City with
some terrific
competition at the Al Kayer/St. Patrick's Day 8K on Sunday, March 20.
Check out the 2 second difference between first place James Gale of
Westland
and second place Nick Stanko of Ann Arbor. Next up is the Tax Trot 15K
in

We had a blast in Hamilton on Around the Bay Road Race weekend.
Michigan runners Joanie Rogucki and Bill Hill were back for their
eighth time; Nina Bovio returned for her 12th. What brings them back?
"The tradition." Drubbler Riley McLincha left his basketballs behind
for his the first time running "The Bay." We also talked with course record
holder, Joseph Nderitu, who won "The Bay" on Sunday for the fourth
time in six
attempts. Joseph is also the current Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank
Marathon
champion. Among our favorite new discoveries: the Hamilton Farmers Market
(indoors and
connected to the Sheraton Hotel, where we stayed), Tailgate Charlies--
no
hockey? no problem says the menu of this popular sports bar, and Hess
Village-- restored Victorian neighborhood houses an eclectic and funky
