__/ KEWEENAW TRAIL RUNNING FESTIVAL, HANCOCK, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JULY 7-8, 2007- When Jeff Crumbaugh began the Keweenaw Trail Running Festival back at the turn of the 21st century, some people thought he'd lost it. Let's see, go to Hancock, Michigan, then take on a 10K Run, a 6K Hill Climb, and a 25K Run in two days. The beauty of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula, Jeff's ability to deliver on what runners want and major bragging rights have all contributed to the growing success of the festival. Tom Henderson tells the story: http://www.michiganrunner.net/news/keweenaw_trail0905.html Register online: http://greatlakesendurance.com

__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: ALMA HIGHLAND FESTIVAL SERIES OF RACES - We've completed the video gallery for the Alma Highland Festival; check-out the Alma Highland Festival massed-bands (all in kilts, of course), the caber-toss (think telephone pole) and the cutest kids' race we've seen. http://michiganrunner.tv/2007almahighlandfestivalraces/

__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: GREAT RACE SPORTS FESTIVAL - We've added inline skate and bike criterium races as well as the 5K and 10k walks. Canoe / kayak races and a really fun skate vs bike race are still to come. http://michiganrunner.tv/2007greatrace/

__/ "SHOWDOWN" NEW MOVIE FOR CROSS COUNTRY FANS - "INDIANAPOLIS - "Showdown", a 72-minute documentary profiling five elite runners at the 2007 USA Cross Country Championships, will be released at the 2007 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships this week in Indianapolis.

"Showdown" takes fans behind the scenes with Abdi Abdirahman, Alan Culpepper, Meb Keflezighi, Dathan Ritzenhein, and Jorge Torres as they train and race in locations such as Eugene, Ore., Houston, San Diego, Tucson, and the UK as they prepare for the USA Cross Country Championships, held in Boulder, Colorado, this past February.

The DVD includes six minutes of bonus features and will be available to the public for the first time exclusively at the USA Track & Field (USATF) merchandise store located at Mike Carroll Stadium during the Championships.

"American distance running is back, and USATF supports efforts like 'Showdown' that tell the story behind the story," said Craig Masback, CEO of USA Track & Field. "Our runners are great personalities in addition to great talents, and they deserve the spotlight as we head into the 2007 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and IAAF World Championships and beyond to the 2008 Olympic year."

Created by the same Seattle-based team that made the hit triathlon documentary "What It Takes", "Showdown" will be sold online at www.usatf.org and www.ShowdownRace.com. The documentary features a richly cinematic "look and feel." It will show in 16:9 widescreen format, with high-definition footage rarely seen before in the sport. A 2-minute trailer can be previewed: http://www.showdownrace.com/promo/videos/showdown- trailer-sm.mov. For more information visit http://www.usatf.org." -- USATF press release

__/ MRN ON THE ROAD - ST. CLAIR, MICHIGAN - St. Clair, Michigan is one of Michigan's hidden treasures, 50 miles north of Detroit and just 20 miles south of Port Huron. Our room at the St. Clair Inn, right on the St. Clair River, was a great vantage point for watching river traffic-- giant tankers, small tankers, sailboats, kayaks and fishing boats. We had a terrific weekend in St. Clair for the Artful Dodger Riverview Run 5K on Saturday and the two-day St. Clair Art Fair. Everything took place right on the river side Palmer Park. A number of folks took advantage of the Sunday running of the YMCA / CHOK International Bridge Race. Video coming next week: http://michiganrunner.tv/2007artful_dodger/
