FESTIVAL RACES MARK MID-AUGUST RACING -- HOWELL MELON RUN, HOWELL, FRIDAY, AUGUST 17 - The Howell Melon Festival features Friday night 10K and 5K runs, a fun run and walk, kids runs and a melon roll. We love the scenic and rolling course and the melon served at the post-race festivities. The Melon Roll kicks things off at 6:15 pm at Howell City Park, Tot Trot follows at 6:30 pm, Fun Run and Walk is 6:45 pm. Both 5K and 10K runs start at 7:00 pm. -- PETOSKEY FESTIVAL BY THE BAY WELLNESS WALK & RUN, SATURDAY, AUGUST 18, 2007 - The Petoskey waterfront has a lock on scenic running routes in Michigan and this race takes full advantage of the location. The 5K run and walk begin at 9:00 am, Bayfront Park in Petoskey. There's no end of things to do on a summer day in Petoskey-- bicycle paths, shopping, restaurants and great live music in the evenings. -- GREAT TRAIN RACE, YPSILANTI, SUNDAY, AUGUST 19, 2007 - After a couple of years in hiatus, the Ypsilanti Jaycees are bringing back the Great Train Race. Ypsilanti's Corner Brewery in Depot Town is the headquarters. The 10K run and 5K run and walk start at 8:10 am. The train does have something to do with the start time.
