__/ HANSONS RUNNING SHOPS' OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAM TOPS MICHIGAN RUNNING NEWS IN 2002
Hanson's Running Shops Olympic Development Program successes
are Michigan's biggest running story of 2002. The program that Keith
and Kevin Hanson finance themselves is getting results. The Hansons
team won its second straight USATF Cross Country championship and
individual team members claimed top spots at USATF championship
races, the Boston Marathon and the Chicago marathon. The program
expects to have contenders at the 2008 Olympics. The program's
success comes in the context of people bewailing the state of American
distance running. Coaches Keith and Kevin Hanson are doing
something about American distance running and making a difference in
the lives of post-collegiate runners. Their story is an ongoing one which
reaches far beyond Michigan borders.
