For a map, driving directions, and on-line registration, see http://hansons-running.com __/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: BOB FIGULI: 100,000 MILES & COUNTING - Meet the Marquette resident who has run an a verage of 8.5 miles every day for 33 1/2 years. We took our Michigan Runner TV cameras to Marquette in September to talk with Bob Figuli on the shore of Lake Superior, just before the Lake Superior Shore Run Race Against Tobacco. http://michiganrunner.tv/2003figuli/

__/ MICHIGANDERS QUALIFY FOR TRIALS IN CHICAGO - Brian Sell (2:20:01), Trent Briney (2:21:10), and Nick Cordes (2:20:35) qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials in February at last Sunday's LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. Sell's chip time (2:19:57)met the US "A" standard. Ben Rosario's chip time (2:21:58) met the "B" standard, but his gun time was a heartbreakingly close 2:22:01. We'll keep you posted on whether or not those chip times will be accepted. Sell, Briney, Cordes and Rosario all run for the Hansons-Brooks team. Leigh Daniel, 25, of Utica, Michigan, finished first among Michigan women with 2:52:29.

__/ RON MARINUCCI PICKS "25 RUNNING BOOKS TO PLEASE RUNNERS" - Michigan Runner Nov/Dec 2003 magazine continues its 25th anniversary celebration with Ron Marinucci's top 25 books: "25 Running Books to Please Runners." You can find the latest issue at running stores with coverage of the Crim, The Detroit Free Press / Flagstar Bank Marathon, the Portage Invitational, additional events, and columns by Bob Schwartz, Tom Henderson, Scott Hubbard, Doug Kurtis, and Scott Sullivan.

__/ RACHAEL TOWNSEND - We heard sad news from the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon finish line last week. 29 year old Rachael Townsend collapsed and died 100 yards past the finish line (3:40:33 chip time). Rachael had been a popular and successful soccer coach at Saline High School until she and her husband Brian Townsend moved to Ohio this summer. Rachael was a mid-pack runner in many Michigan races, including the Detroit Free Press Flagstar Bank Marathon, the Detroit Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, and the Dexter Ann Arbor Half Marathon. Reports from Chicago papers indicate an autopsy can't explain yet what happened.
