__/ MRN ON THE ROAD, TORONTO
The Toronto Marathon celebrated its 10th anniversary on a windy, wet
Sunday with a new women's course record, an international field of
nearly 10,000 runners representing
33 countries, and full television broadcast coverage by the CBC. The
broadcast will
a
i
r Saturday, October 23 at 2:00 pm EST and repeat early Sunday,
October 24
at
12:30 EST
. (Check local listings to verify thesse times.) Race founder
Ja
y Glassman
designed
a course that showcases Toronto's vibrant neighborhoods,
beautiful
pa
rks at the hei
ght of Fall color, and the bustling
d
iversity of Yonge
Street-- the
world's longest stre
et.
We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel right on the start line in North Y
ork.
Resta
urants,
movies and shopping were just steps away in the gleaming
Empress
Walk a
nd North York
City Centre complexes. We found cruising around t
he city via subway s
o
easy that we
didn't use the car for three days.
