FRANCIE KRAKER GOODRIDGE IN MICHIGAN WOMEN'S HALL OF
FAME
John Goodridge was the first to tell us that his wife, Francie Kraker
Goodridge, is being inducted tomorrow into the State of Michigan
Women's Hall of Fame. Francie is the first native born Michigan woman
to make a US Olympic Team. She represented the US in 1968 in
Mexico City at 800 meters and then at 1500 meters in 1972 in Munich,
one of a few athletes to ever make the US Olympic Team in two different
events. She is a former American National Champion and American and
World Record holder. She originated the girls programs at Ann Arbor
Huron and Ann Arbor Greenhills, coaching state champions at those
schools and East Lansing HS. At Michigan she coached the Wolverine
women to their first ever Big Ten Track Championship. One of the
pioneers of women?s running, Francie has previously been inducted
into the University of Michigan Hall of Honor and the University of
Michigan Track Hall of Fame.
