Eric Clarke of the Running with E's store in Adrian alerted us to Amy Dodson's marathon world record for amputees. Amy's time of 3:53:21 at the St. George's Marathon in Utah on October 5, 2002. demolished the old record of 4:17+ by more than 24 minutes. A resident of Adrian, Amy also holds the half-marathon world record for amputees. The Mike May Races in Vassar return to their traditional November date after a move to September in 2001. The races feature a certified half- marathon, a certified 5K run and the Mike May Memorial 5K walk. The half-marathon travels through rolling farmland and the Vassar State Game Area. __/ MICHIGAN STATE WOMEN DEFEND BIG 10 X-C TITLE THIS WEEKEND

The Michigan State women's cross country team were ranked #3 earlier this season, but injuries got in their way. With injuries are behind them now, the Spartan women, including senior Cindy Durocher and juniors Michelle Carson and Jamie Krzyminski, are poised to take that Big 10 title at Purdue's Varsity Cross Country Course in West Lafayette, Indiana this Sunday.

__/ HARRISON HENSLEY'S GOING FOR 1400

We had a chance to chat with Dolores and Harrison Hensley at the Great Turtle race on Mackinac Island last weekend. Dolores and Harrison put on the popular "Run Thru Hell" in August, and they volunteer their time the Crim and scores of other Michigan races every year. Harrison is chasing a milestone this year; he expects to run race number 1400 at the Cold Turkey Trot in Lansing, November 10. What a way to celebrate Dolores' birthday the same day! Harrison has also collected 41 states along the way, including Alaska and Hawaii.

__/ EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY LEARN BY DOING CLINIC, DECEMBER 7

Eastern Michigan University is holding its popular "Learn By Doing" Clinic on December 7. Students can learn techniques for pole vault, throws, sprints, hurdles, high jump and long jump and distance events. The clinic also includes seminars for coaches.
