=========================================== MICHIGAN RUNNER TV - ROSEVILLE BIG BIRD RUN =========================================== The 29th Annual Big Bird Run attracted more than 700 competitors for 10K, 4K and 1 mile races. Michigan Runner TV shows each race as well as interviews with 10K winner Yolanda Flamino and 10K master winner David Watkins. Roseville mayor, Harold Hall, welcomes runners in the 1 Mile show with a moment of silence for Ryan Shay and a tribute to Big Bird 10K course record holder, Brian Sell. Each of the 5 shows is also available on YouTube. http://michiganrunner.tv/2007bigbird/

=============================================== MICHIGAN RUNNER TV - ING NEW YORK CITY MARATHON =============================================== Jeanne Meyer, a member of the New York Road Runners club, brings us a neighborly view of the 2007 ING New York City Marathon from near her home in Brooklyn. YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35d9CBLvzow

================================================ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV - 2007 BOYNE 2 BOYNE MARATHON ================================================ The Boyne 2 Boyne links two of Michigan's most prominent resorts together for a challenging, yet beautiful, north country marathon. This year's winners, Rich Power and Cindy Barber, have tasted victory before-- Barber making several Women's Olympic Trials Marathons-- but both felt that the race course was demanding. =========================================================== MICHIGAN RUNNER TV - RANDY STEP - CHAIRMAN'S CITATION AWARD =========================================================== Randy Step, Principal of Running Fit, received the Chairman's Citation Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for his work Randy Step, Principal of Running Fit, received the Chairman's Citation Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for his work in the Michigan Team in Training Program. ================================================= MRN ON THE ROAD, CENTRAL LAKE, GAYLORD, ROSEVILLE ================================================= Central Lake, Saturday, November 10 - We paid our respects to the Shay family during a few quiet minutes Saturday afternoon and spoke with Joe Shay about his son Ryan. Joe hopes that an appropriate memorial for Ryan would be a fund to support medical care for professional runners. Joe Shay wanted us to know that Ryan's Flagstaff home was temporary and that Ryan looked forward to returning to the woods and water of his home in Northern Lower Michigan.

Gaylord, Saturday, November 10 - The whole town of Gaylord is excitied about their first state championship cross country team. The Gaylord Herald Times devoted a section to the Blue Devils girls team and reported rounds of interviews with local newspapers, radio and television stations and a pep rally in the gym "to pay homage to the terrors of terrain." "The football team has never induced a championship pep rally. Nor has the basketball team. Nor the hockey team," reported Jeremy Speer. It's great to see running get so much positive attention.

Roseville, Sunday, November 10 - The rain held off and conditions were perfect for a late season, fast race in Roseville. Kids participating always look forward to seeing "Captain America", also known as Kevin Sherwood. "Captain American" typically runs in his trademark red, white, and blue near the front in the 1 Mile, then participates in the 10K, too. Roseville Parks and Recreation know how to make a race fun. Post-race waits for awards are fun, too, as everybody gets a chance to win a turkey. Winners took home medals, trophies and a nice fleece jacket with the Big Bird logo.
