======================================================
Maverick Darling continued his remarkable season with a third place

RUN LIKE THE DICKENS AND TINY TIM TROT, HOLLY, SATURDAY,
DECEMBER 8
=======================================================
============
One of the great things about Michigan running is the season is never
over. Every month has a highlight or two. Holly's Run Like the Dickens
and Tiny Tim Trot are part of Holly's Dickens Olde Fashioned Christmas
Festival.
For thousands of Michigan families, it wouldn't be Christmas if they didn't
attend the Festival. Visitors to the village come from all over the world to
mingle with characters right out of one of Charles Dickens' Victorian
tales. The festival runs from November 23 through December 23.
December 8, the first day of Tiny Tim Weekend, is also the day for Run
Like the Dickens races and-- what else-- the Tiny Tim Trot kids runs. The
8K run, 5K run and 5K walk start and finish at the Karl Ricter Campus
and go through scenic downtown Holly. The 8K begins at 9:00 am with
the 5K run and walk following at 9:15 am and 9:15 am. Tiny Tim Trot
includes 1/4, 1/2 and 1 mile races beginning at 10:00 am.

MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: BOYNE 2 BOYNE
=================================
The Boyne 2 Boyne Marathon links two of Michigan's most prominent
resorts together for a challenging, yet beautiful north country marathon.
This year's winners, Rich Power and Cindy Barber, have tasted victory
before-- Barber has qualified for several Women's Olympic Trials
Marathons-- but both felt that the race course was a demanding one.

RITZENHEIN NAMED VISA HUMANITARIAN ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
======================================================
"INDIANAPOLIS - Two-time Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein has been
named Visa Humanitarian Athlete of the Year by USA Track & Field.
Ritzenhein will be honored December 1 at the 2007 Jesse Owens
Awards and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony held in conjunction with
USA Track & Field's 2007 Annual Meeting, November 28-December 2,
in Honolulu, Hawaii.
"Ritzenhein, 24, of Eugene, Oregon, earlier this year won the Healthy
Kidney 10K in New York on May 19 in 20 minutes 8 seconds, breaking
the Central Park course record of 28:10 set by Kenyan Paul Koech in
1997. Following the race Ritzenhein donated his winner's earnings of
$7,500 to the race beneficiary, the National Kidney Foundation. 'I made
a pact with myself before the race that if I'm fortunate enough to pick up
this course record the least I can do is give back the first place prize
money seeing as how this is professional athletics, but it's a race for
charity,' said Ritzenhein.
"Ritzenhein entered the race in New York with an understanding of
kidney disease and how debilitating it can be. 'My mom (Rae Marie
Nessner) has had kidney surgery and kind of has a failing kidney and
my grandpa (Marvin Adams) has as well, so that's close to home for me,'
he said. 'It kind of helps to be able to give that back and my mom was
very, very happy, as was my grandpa. It's a great cause and in the
course of three years that race in New York has been built up into a
pretty substantial event.'"

Former Michigander Lauryn Williams received the same award in 2006.
