__/ ROSEVILLE BIG BIRD, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13 - One of
Michigan's terrific Thanksgiving traditions is the Big Bird race in
Roseville. In addition to a fast 10K, there's a 4K and a 1 Mile Run and
Walk. The 10K is flat except for a unique trip up and down a pedestrian
overpass. The post-race party features a generous raffle of frozen
turkeys (these are big birds) and other goodies. Roseville Parks and
Rec is hosting the 27th edition beginning at 10:00 am. Download an
entry form at http://www.ci.roseville.mi.us and be sure to check out
Michigan Runner TV's coverage:

November????? T'is no mistake, but a 5K Run

indoor water park. Race entry fees include admission to Avalanche
Bay. Of course, you'll also get a chance to see the stunning new Grand
Mountain Lodge. The mostly-flat course is on Boyne Mountain's
beautiful cross country trails. Events begin at 10:00 am. Download an
entry form at http://www.avalanchebay.com/events_details.asp?ID=780.

MARATHON - We wrap up our coverage with a couple of special shows:
an interview with Kathrine Switzer and the truly fun expo which includes
excerpts from presentations by Roger Robinson, Kathrine Switzer,
Sylvia Ruegger, John Stanton and a crowd-pleasing Irish step dancing

__/ MRN ON THE ROAD
-- DETROIT - The Detroit Free Press / Flagstar Bank Marathon honored
volunteers with an evening trip on the Detroit Princess Riverboat. In
addition to wonderful food, weather, entertainment and company,
volunteers were rewarded by Free Press Publisher David Hunke's
remarks. Hunke, who was named Publisher in August, announced that
the Free Press would not only continue supporting the marathon events,
but now has made growing the marathon events one of the paper's
goals.
-- BROOKLYN--What's more fun than the convergence of the Michigan
Running community at the Michigan International Speedway for the
lower peninsula cross country championships? Not much. We enjoy
watching high school athletes running their hearts out, we urge the ones
struggling at the end to cross the finish line, and we have fun talking
about our favorite sport with the coaches, parents, fans, officials, athletic
directors and media. Case in point:: Trent Briney (4th US Olympic
marathon trials, 2004) taking photos for Run Michigan, was surprised to
see so many media covering a cross country event.
On our wish list is a true state championship which combines Upper
Peninsula and Lower Peninsula divisions.
__/ HAPPY BIRTHDAY DELORES HENSLEY - Our thanks go to Greg
Everal for this news: ". Delores is going to turn 75 years old on
Thursday Nov. 10th." I doubt if anyone has hugged more sweaty runners
at the finish line than Delores."
