Kevin Sullivan holds the Canadian record in the mile and placed 5th
in the 1500 meter race at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The University of
Michigan alum is returning to Ann Arbor to train with Coach Ron
Warhurst for another run at a medal in Athens. Running Network TV
caught up with Kevin at the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank Marathon
in October 2003.

__/ TOM HENDERSON FEATURED AT ANN ARBOR BOOK FESTIVAL,

writes about murder, too. Tom's book "A Deadly Affair" chronicles the
recent Detroit Love Triangle Murder case. Tom will be signing copies at
Border Signing Booth #11-12 on Saturday, April 24, Noon and 4:00 pm.
The inaugural festival runs from Thursday through Sunday in the North
University area and the University of Michigan Central Campus. For
more information see http://www.aabookfestival.org
__/ HILLSDALE 'GINA' RELAYS, APRIL 23-24

track and field meets: the Hillsdale College Gina Relays, Friday and
Saturday, April 23 & 24. Athletes from the Hansons-Brooks
Distance
Project will be running for U.S. Olympic Team Trials, Track and Field
qualifying times. College athletes from the University of Michigan,

__/ ESPN2 FEATURES RUNNING NETWORK PRESIDENT, LARRY
EDER
ESPN2's early morning show, Cold Pizza, featured our colleague, Larry
Eder this morning. Larry, President of the Running Network, talked
about affordable running shoes of $80.00 or less. The shoes Larry had
time to mention were Nike Air Pegasus, Nike Air Perseus, and Reebok's
Premier Road Lite. Larry also advised viewers to buy shoes at specialty
running stores. The Running Network comprises 29 running
publications, including the Michigan Runner. For the Running Network's
show review by Cregg Weinmann see

__/ MICHIGAN RUNNERS SURVIVE BOSTON MARATHON HEAT
Hundreds of Michigan Runners survived the 85 degree of Monday's
Boston Marathon. Among the finishers was Riley McLincha, who
"drubbled" three basketballs along the entire route and finished in a chip
time of 5:45:56. Top Michigan finishers (chip times):
Ryan Linden, Open Division (18-39): 2:33:23
Laurie Decker, Masters Division (40-49): 3:13:08
David Watkins, Masters Division (40-49): 2:57:23
Mindy Kuehl, Open Division (18-39): 3:17:29
Mike McGlynn, Veterans Division (50-59): 3:18:52
Therese Grondin, Veterans Division (50-59): 3:46:31
John Farah, Senior Division (60-69): 3:48:16
Nancy Forster, Senior Division (69-69): 5:07:21
Bob Daly, (70+): 4:16:02
No Michigan residents appear in the wheelchair results.
For complete results see http://bostonmarathon.org
__/ A PR OF 1 HOUR 5 MINUTES WILL SEE TRACEY MORRIS
RUNNING IN ATHENS
She's neither a Michigan story, nor an American story, but we think
Tracey Morris's performance in Sunday's Flora London Marathon is
striking. Tracey, a 36 year old optician, finished her second marathon
in 2:33:52, 1 hour and 5 minutes faster than her first marathon (also
the Flora London marathon) of 3:39. Tracey's time met the Olympic
Marathon qualifying time of 2:37 and will be Great Britain's third
marathoner in Athens. Tracey will join world-record holder Paula
Radcliffe and Liz Yelling in Athens.
__/ QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"I genuinely had no idea I could do that time (2hr 33min 52sec) because
I had only run one marathon before. I tried to run carefully because I
wanted to get to the end and had been warned that anything could
happen in the last few miles.."
-- Tracey Morris, quoted in an interview with Gareth E. Davies,
