__/ NOTES FROM THE EXPO, FIFTH THIRD RIVER BANK RUN

--Want to try a challenging run that is not a race? Barbara and Dave Minier have joined Joe Wolters in recruiting folks to run 100 miles in four days for the Strides for Life, June 18-21. Each day, a group starts out, reaches an aide station in approximately 5 miles, then waits for the rest of the group to catch up. Strides for Life raises funds for the American Cancer Society. Entries are due by June 1. See http:// www.stridesforlife.com.

--The "BOB" works! We brought home a "BOB", the exercise gadget which helps stretch calf muscles, Achilles tendons, and other leg muscles. For those of us whose ranch-style houses have no steps, this is a cool answer. http://www.exercisebob.com.

--Several folks noticed the Doug Kurtis on the Michigan Runner magazine cover was the same Doug Kurtis at the Detroit Free Press/ Flagstar Bank Marathon, two booths over. Doug found himself busy signing covers.

--"We buy old running shoes!" The flyer really does mean old. Andy Drasiewski wants 70's and 80's running and basketball shoes. Contact Andy at andy@smallearth.com.

--Jeff Herron was showing off the "blokart". Think ice boat on wheels. In fact, the New-Zealand manufactured blokart also comes with blades. http://midwestblokart.com.

__/ QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"Would you rather win with a bad time or be last with a PR? Runners will take the PR. Non-runners don't understand this."
