King combines sports marketing experience (Detroit Vipers, Muskegon Fury, and Columbus Stars) with ties to the Flint community. The Swartz Creek nati ve will be responsible for sale, sponsorship and marketing. "Is Robb a runner?" we a sked Sherlynn. "Well, he's signed up for the Crim Training Program," she s aid.

__/ TAORMINA WINS WORLD CUP; QUALIFIES FOR OLYM PIC TRIATHLON TEAM

Livonia, Michigan native Sheila Taormina will be on her third Olympic team. Taormina won the women's race Internation al Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Championship on S unday in Portugal. Taormina finished the 1.5k swim, 40k bik e and 10k run in 1 hour, 52 minutes, 17 seconds. Taormina won a gold medal as a member of the 4 x 200 freestyle relay swimming team in 1996 and finished sixth in the first Olympic triathlon in 2000.

__/ HEART OF THE HILLS CANCELLED

We were sad to learn that the Heart of the Hills 10K and 5K, originally scheduled for July 24, 2004, has been cancelled. The Bloo mfield Hills race has been a popular event since 1985.

After 21 years of offering a 5 and 10K run in the city of Walker , they are calling it quits this year. They just felt that they were not getti ng the support to continue. We will miss them. -- Art McCafferty
