__/ 31ST DEXTER-ANN ARBOR RUN, SUNDAY, JUNE 6

One of Michigan's classic and historic races will be celebrating it's 31st annual on June 6. The Dexter-Ann Arbor Run was first run as a 15 miler to celebrate Ann Arbor's Sesquicentennial in 1974. The current distances are a half-marathon, a half-marathon relay, a 10K run/walk, a 5K run/walk and a kid's run at 4:00 pm, Saturday, June 5. Sunday's events follow the very scenic Huron River to a downtown Ann Arbor finish. If you haven't discovered one of the most scenic race courses anywhere, do yourself a favor and sign up for this Ann Arbor Track Club event. The race partners with the "Taste of Ann Arbor", an outdoor festival featuring cuisine from Ann Arbor's famed Restaurant Row. Register online or at Saturday's Expo at Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School, 2 pm-6 pm. http:// dexterannarborrun.com.

__/ HURRAY! PATRICIA BALL IS STAYING IN DETROIT

A couple of weeks ago we reported that Patricia Ball was leaving to direct the Twin Cities Marathon. Well, things changed, and we are pleased to report that Patricia is staying on as Director of the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank Marathon. Here's some of what Pat has to say about her choice to stay after an unforseen change in circumstances:

"I decided that it would not be in the best interest of anyone - my family, TCM, Detroit or me - if I left. The week before last, I had a lengthy conversation with the President of the Board, Ron Abrahamson, and I withdrew my acceptance to begin as Executive Director on June 1.

My resignation with the Free Press would have been effective on May 31. However, last week, my position was joyfully reinstated. I'm back, I'm excited and as optimistic as ever about what is possible for the Detroit Free Press/ Flagstar Bank Marathon!"

__/ MACKINAW MEMORIAL BRIDGE RUN HAS ROOM FOR A FEW MORE

Saturday's Mackinaw Memorial Bridge Run has room for a few more runners before the 10K reaches its maximum of 600 entrants. You can still sign up Friday, May 28 from 6 pm to 10 pm or on race day from 4:30 am to 6:30 am at the Mackinaw City Recreation Complex. First gentleman, Dan Mulhern will be among the participants. http://mackinawcity.com
