Dathan Ritzenhein made his 10,000 meter debut at the Cardinal
Invitational at Stanford last Friday, April 30, with an Olympic qualifier
27:38.50. Ritz's time broke Ed Eyestone's American collegiate record of

performances. Ritz placed 6th at the Stanford event, then caught a plane
and reached Norman, Oklahoma in time to run the 5000 meter event at
the Big 12 Conference meet on Saturday. Ritz won that one and
qualified for the NCAA meet with a 14:08.40.

__/ "ON TRACK" FOR GIRLS AGES 11 THROUGH 17
We thank Fred Vanhala, Front Line Raceing Team, for alerting us to
this program:
Julia Green is recruiting female runners who would be willing to donate
their time to help younger girls, ages 11-17, become more fit through
running and walking activities.
"The Girl Scouts in Pontiac are looking for volunteers and mentors to
participate in a Studio2B activity as the school year winds down.
Specifically, I am looking for women who would welcome the
opportunity to work with girls (ages 11-17) on either a one-time or
ongoing basis, starting in May. This is a great chance to build your
resume for future employment / promotion, postively impact future
women and provide the satisfaction of watching girls meet their goals.
The first Studio2B opportunity for the Rochester/Pontiac/Auburn Hills/
Waterford area is tenatively scheduled for May 22, with a lock-in at
the YMCA, with a theme of fitness through running/walking. Mentors
would provide direction and structure to small groups of girls as
they become, believe, build and belong. Previous Girl Scout
membership is not a requirement for a mentor position."
More information about the Studio2B program can be found at:
http://www.studio2b.org or contact Julia Green, Neighborhood
Service Unit Director, 248-373-7048, 248-343-1570,
