-- FIFTH THIRD BANK SOLSTICE RUN, NORTHVILLE, SATURDAY, JUNE 24 - In its fourth year, this Northville 10K and 5K has become the place to race. Alan Whitefield has assembled an experienced race crew which know how to put on a fun and competive event. Winners earn prize money and the kids have a race, too. 10K begins as 7:30 am; 5K run/walk begins at 8:45 and the kids' run is at 8:35. http://solsticerun.org.

-- ARTFUL DODGER RIVERVIEW RUN, ST. CLAIR, SATURDAY, JUNE 24 - This scenic 5K is run in conjuction with the St. Clair Art Fair. Race begins at Riverview Plaza, 8:30 am. Don't confuse this St. Clair (a few miles South of Port Huron) with St. Clair Shores. http://stclairchamber.com

-- CHOK YMCA INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE RACE, SARNIA, ONTARIO, SUNDAY, JUNE 25 - Here's a wonderful 10K run over the Blue Water Bridge. Begins at 8:00 am; be sure to bring birth certificate and picture ID to get through customs. Kids have a race, too. http:chok.com/Sports/bridgerace.php

-- MICHIGAN CHALLENGE 5K CHASE, HOWELL, SUNDAY, JUNE 25 - This new 5K event in Howell is held in conjunction with the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest. First place male and female win a hot-air balloon ride. Race begins at 8:00 am, Howell High School. http://michiganchallenge.com

-- PICTURED ROCKS RUN FOR SHELTER, MUNISING, SUNDAY, JUNE 25 - There's no better destination race than Munising for this Michigan classic. The half-marathon and 5K are new distances, and the scenery and the challenge are guaranteed in this beautiful location: the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Falling Rock Cafe and Bookstore offers a wonderful ambience for the pre-race pasta dinner and concert Saturday night. Lynn Chamberlain, (906) 387-1751. Video: http://michiganrunner.tv/2005picturedrocks/.

__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: DETROIT FREE PRESS / FLAGSTAR BANK CELEBRATES VOLUNTEERS - Late last Fall, the Detroit Free Press / Flagstar Bank honored its volunteers with an evening on the Detroit Princess Riverboat. Michigan Runner TV interviewed volunteers and Detroit Free Press Publisher David Hunke. Join us for a look behind the scenes of a major marathon and some hilarious letters from participants read by Race Director Pat Ball. We think this is one of our most entertaining shows. http://michiganrunner.tv/2006detroit/.

__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: ANN ARBOR TRIATHLON AND DUATHLON - Over 700 participants, including 162 first-timers, swam, biked and ran the Ann Arbor Triathlon or Duathlon on a beautiful day at Halfmoon Lake. Michigan Runner TV follows the action and talks to participants and Elite Endeavors Jim Donaldson. http://michiganrunner.tv/2006eliteendeavors/

__/ CRIM: THE FIRST 30 YEARS, AVAILABLE ON DVD - If you missed the broadcast last week of Michigan Television's, CRIM The First 30 Years, you can order a DVD. We were riveted by Jim Gaver's hour-long look at the Crim and a chance to see all of the Crim winners race to the finish. To order your DVD copy of CRIM The First 30 Years for $19.95 per copy see http://www.wfum.org/crim/ or mail a check payable to the University of Michigan-Flint to:

__/ COREY NOWITZKE TO REPRESENT USATF - Eastern Michigan coach John Goodridge alerted us to this news: "Corey Nowitzke was just selected by USATF to represent the USA in the July 7-9 North American-Central American Under 23 Championships in the 3000 meter steeplechase. The championships will be held in the Dominican Republic."

__/ USATF NATIONAL TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, JUNE 21-25

Here are athletes with Michgian ties we're watching at the USATF National Track and Field Championships in Indianapolis. We'll miss Tim Broe defending his 5000 meter championship for the fourth year in a row. Tim is getting back up to speed after several surgeries. Tim hosts many Michigan Runner TV shows. You can see his interviews of participants Rob Myers, Jorge Torres, Dathan Ritzenhein, Dan Browne, and Meb Keflezighi at http://michiganrunner.tv.
