__/ VOTE FOR U.S. OLYMPIC HALL OF FAME'S CLASS OF 2006

Anyone can vote online for the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Class of 2006. Induction ceremonies will be December 8 in Chicago. Voting is in four categories:

Individuals (5 of 14 nominees),

Team (1 of 5 nominees),

Paralympian (1 of 5 nominees),

Coach (1 of 5 nominees).

Individual nominees include track and field athletes Evelyn Ashford, Joan Benoit, Valerie Brisco, Bob Hayes, and Roger Kingdom. Paralympic nominees include 7 time Boston marathon wheeler Jean Driscoll. I had a tough time choosing among the coaches: Bill Bowerman, Herb Brooks, Ed Temple (Wilma Rudolph's coach), George Haines, and Carlo Fassi.

__/ 2008 TRIALS WILL BE IN COLUMBUS, EUGENE, SACRAMENTO OR LA INDIANAPOLIS - USA Track & Field on August 19 announced that four cities - Carson/Los Angeles, Calif.; Columbus, Ohio; Eugene, Ore.; and Sacramento, Calif. - are finalists to host the 2008 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials.

__/ GREAT PERFORMANCES ON THE ROADS MINNEAPOLIS - (August 20, 2005) - Katie McGregor capped her outstanding 2005 season with a dominant victory at the Guidant Heart of Summer 10K around Lake Nokomis. McGregor, the 2005 USA 10,000 champion, ran 32:17 to shatter the Minnesota state Open record (previous record was 32:52 by Olympian Janis Klecker in 1992). For her efforts, McGregor, 27, a St. Louis Park (MN) resident, earned $10,250. Four-time Olympian Colleen De Reuck, 41, of Boulder, Colo. finished a solid second in 32:53
