__/ CRIM ANNOUNCES CORRECTION IN MICHIGAN
WINNERS - Flint, MI- For the second year in a row, there has
been a change in the line-up of Michigan women
winners at the Crim 10 Miler. Due to a technical glitch, April
Likhite of Birmingham, Michigan, did not show up in the
initial results. With an impressive time of 1:00:43, April was
the third place female Michigan finisher, and as such is
entitled to the $250 prize money. The corrected results drop
Laura Ankrum of Grand Blanc to fourth place, and Sarah
Plaxton of Highland to fifth. Ann Stewart of Ann Arbor placed
sixth.
"There is always a risk in trying to have results available for
the 11 a.m. Awards Ceremony on race day", stated Race
Director Sherlynn Everly. "Overall, there was a 99.97%
accuracy in our scoring; unfortunately, one error had to be
with a prize money winner."
The corrected Michigan Women results for the Crim 10 Mile
are:
1) Seana Larson, Ann Arbor, 33, 58:53
2) Patricia Murray, Livonia, 32, 1:00:15
3) April Likhite, Birmingham, 31, 1:00:49
4) Laura Ankrum, Grand Blanc, 30, 1:02:02
5) Sarah Plaxton, Highland, 35, 1:02:11
6) Ann Boyd Steward, Ypsilanti, 39, 1:02:12
__/ PART X: DOUG KURTIS MARATHON TRAINING SERIES.
- This week Doug talks about tapering, arranging travel
days, and other techniques to help you have a great
marathon. The twelve part series is sponsored by Running
Fit (http://runningfit.com). Doug's training charts are suitable
for First Timers, Intermediate, Advanced, and Ace
marathoners. http:// michiganrunner.tv/2003marathon/.
__/ QUOTE OF THE WEEK - "Sooner or later, in every
marathon, I begin to laugh. There's a foolishness about
marathons that is obvious to everfyone except those who
attempt to run them. Except perhaps for the truly gifted
athletes, one must have a sense of humor about the act of
running 26.2 miles for no particular reason."
-- John "The Penguin" Bingham, in The Courage to Start.
From "The Quotable Marathoner, edited by Charles Lyons,
Guilford, Connecticut, The Lyons Press, 2001.

__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER RACE SERIES - SCHEDULE -
Race series events are open to Michigan residents; you do
not have to register with the Michigan Runner to participate.
Each runner's top 10 results will count at the conclusion of
the series. Another way to think about this is that each
runner's worst results will be thrown out. Missing one race
will not hurt anyone's standings. For results and standings
