__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: SCOTIABANK TORONTO WATERFRONT
MARATHON - We have
lots of shows underway which we'll show over the next couple of weeks,
beginning with Saturday's Friendhship Run which reflects the
international field of the marathon, half-marathon and 5K races. You'll
be able to see world record holder Ed Whitlock, joggler Michal Kapral,
and the winner, Daniel Rono, who's as charming as he is fast. http://
michiganrunner.tv/2006scotiabank/
__/ MICHIGAN RUNNER TV: CHURCHILL'S HALF MARATHON - This
show will inspire you to get out and run on these crisp autumn days. On
a sunny day in March 2006, Michigan Runner TV visited one of the
oldest road races in the midwest: Churchill's Half Marathon. Join us as
we visit with race founder, Walt Churchill, winner Ryan Desgrange, and
runner-up Andy Haas.

__/ MARATHON SEASON - WHO'S RUNNING WHERE
It's the Fall marathon season and Michigan athletes are making
appearances among the elite. Here are the ones we know about so far:

Nathan Usher
LaSalle Bank Chicago, Oct. 22
Josh Eberly

Luke Humphrey
Chad Johnson
Mike Morgan - debut
Kyle O'Brien

Katie McGregor - debut
Dathan Ritzenhein - debut
__/ MRN ON THE ROAD
-- TORONTO - Alan Brookes, Dana Allen, Inge Johnson and the rest of
the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon team put together a
fabulous weekend of events. Highlights included a free concert Friday
night, a deal on tickets to the Blue Jays / Red Sox games, a Pasta
Dinner at historic St. Lawrence Market, and a slightly altered course
which featured ten neighborhood celebrations and, of course, Toronto's
waterfront. All of this was within walking distance of our downtown
hotel. Put this one on your calendar for next year: Sept. 23, 2007. http://
torontowaterfrontmarathon.com
-- SAUGATUCK - The Mt. Baldhead Challenge is a great excuse to visit
Saugatuck-Douglas-- one of West Michigan's treasures along the Lake
Michigan shore. If Lake Michigan and Kalamazoo River scenery weren't
enough, there are art galleries galore and the famous Oval Beach. Take
a video tour of Saugatuck/Douglas with Michigan Runner editor, Scott
Sullivan.
http://michigantravel.tv/2006saugatuck/
-- LAKE LANSING / OKEMOS - Playmaker's Autumn Classic is held in
beautiful Lake Lansing Park in Haslett. It's no wonder the trails in the
park are so popular for training runs. While we were in the
neighborhood we stopped by Playmakers store in Okemos. Join
Playmakers' Brian Jones for a look at the store, the concept behind
Team Playmakers and Brian's tips on hot new products. (Think wool!)

__/ DESIREE DAVILA IS ON WORLD ROAD RUNNING
CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM - Desiree Davila, a newcomer of the Hanson's
Brooks Distance Project will be getting ready to run a 20k in Debrecen,
Hungary. On October 8, 2006, Davila and other members of the Team
USA will be toeing the line for a 20k World Championship. Davila
qualified for this USA event while running the US 20k champs.
__/ DEAN KARNAZES TO RUN GRAND RAPIDS MARATHON
COURSE OCTOBER 21 - "Marathon"
Don Kern reports, "Unless you've been living in a vacuum, you've all
heard of
Ultramarathon Man Dean Karnazes. He's coming to run our course as
part of the
Endurance 50. Only thing is, it's not on race day, it's on October 21. Still,
it's a good chance to run part of the course with a running celebrity, and
if you want to officially sign up for it, they'll include all kinds of goodies
with it, including an autographed copy of Dean's book. For more info,
http://www.endurance50.com
"The official Grand Rapids Marathon is on October 29th. That's when the
race
is and when you can earn an official Finishers Medal. You're still
welcome to
run with Dean as a training run. Also, living in a vacuum would probably
be
preferable to living in a microwave."
__/ 4 MICHIGAN CONTENDERS FOR CONTINENTAL AIRLINES FIFTH
AVENUE MILE - Kevin Sullivan, Nate Brannen, Nick Willis and Grant
Robison are among the middle distance talent who will contend for the
Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile on Saturday. $4,000 goes to the
winner. For more details on this Reebok/ New York Road Runners
event, see
