Flint, MI- Whether you have been in training for the Crim and wonder
what you are going to do to stay fit after it's over, running on your own or
watching the race from the sidelines and was inspired to start a fitness
program, the Crim has a program especially for you. CrimFit is a new, year round program designed to keep you motivated to
stay active or give you the tools to get started. More than just another
fitness program, CrimFit will be your new way of life. CrimFit provides
Information, Motivation Access to resources and a well defined Physical
Program of Activity for all members to achieve fitness goals via
cardiovascular fitness. Walk, run or step your way into a healthy
lifestyle.
The principles of the CrimFit program are based on guidelines from the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, CrimFit has identified
the levels of activity needed to reduce your risk of chronic disease,
stabilize your weight and lower your weight. Components of the CrimFit
program include:
o Members are provided access to the Crim web based bulletin board
for locating and connecting with running/walking partners;
o Members keep track of their daily mileage on a stat of the are
pedometer- provided by the Crim;
o Members record their daily mileage on a personal CrimFit web page;
o Members earn incentives as they achieve mileage and corresponding
fitness goals; Members are provided significant financial savings at
participating fitness centers and retail outlets;
o Members are invited to attend Crim seminars on running, walking and
nutrition and have access to a panel of fitness experts to address
questions regarding their fitness program;
o Annual Health Screen/Professional consultation;
o Members Training Shirts, Newest Jeff Gallaway Training Book, CrimFit
wrist band.
Participants keep track of their daily activity, and earn incentives as they
become healthier, fitter and finally, CrimFit. The Crim provides the
motivation to keep going, informative seminars on running, walking and
nutrition and a panel of fitness experts, to answer questions about
exercise and health. Participants learn about places to exercise in bad
weather, enjoy complimentary access to area health facilities and
receive discounts at fitness centers and area businesses that serve the
needs of exercisers.
CrimFit participants will receive many great benefits - the most
important, feeling good and staying active all year round. "We are
encouraging people to sign up with friends, family or co-workers as a
team," said Dorie Barkey, CrimFit program coordinator. "Crimfit is a
great program to use as a workplace challenge."
Enrollment for the program is quarterly, with the deadline for this period
ending Friday, September 30. To receive the benefit of the programs
orientation, applications should be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday,
September 27.
