"For Women Only 5K" Honors Robin Sarris-Hallop

Robin Sarris has been named the honoree of the 2004 "For Women Only 5K Run/Walk" to be held on May 16th. The honor is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through their accomplishments and contributions to women's running in the Ann Arbor area.

Robin's history is impressive. She has been a competitive distance runner in Michigan for 22 consecutive years. Robin averages approximately 20 road races per year in distances from the mile to the marathon. She also runs competitively in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. Robin ran first FWO race (held in 1983) during first season as a competitive runner. Won it in 1984 (5 mi) and competed in many of the FWO races, finishing in the top 5 several times (finished 2nd in 2002, 18 years after winning it).

Awards: -- Michigan Runner Female Runner of the Year 1999, Michigan Runner Masters Runner of the Year 1998, 2002 -- Ann Arbor Track Club Female Runner of the Year 1995, 2002 -- Named one of 2002 "Remarkable Regional Women Runners" by Women's Running publication -- Motor City Striders Masters Club Champion 1998 -- USATF Michigan LDR Masters Champion 1999 -- USATF Michigan Women's Development Award 1999 -- RRCA National 10K Masters Champion 2002 -- 1986 NJCAA State/Regional Individual Cross Country Champion when I ran for a season for Macomb Community College -- Over 22 year period have been ranked in Best of Times in Michigan Runner in some distances every year

PRs: -- Open: 10k 36:35, 10 mi 61:30, marathon 2:54:53 -- Masters: 1 mi 5:15, 5K 17:41 8K 29:45 and 15K 58:53

Service to the running community: -- Road Runners Club of American (RRCA) State of Michigan Rep -- Past AATC Board Member, Newsletter editor and writer (Elmo Award 2003) -- Writer for Michigan Runner magazine -- Served as a motivational speaker for high school cross country teams in Michigan -- Served as Dexter Ann Arbor Run Elite Athlete Coordinator

Personal: -- Worked as full time professional throughout entire running career - currently is a Human Resource Manager for College of Literature, Science and Arts at UM -- Earned two masters degrees - Public Health and Business -- Married 13 years to running partner, coach and best friend for 20+ years- Peter Hallop
