SOUTH LYON (9/7) - With his victories in 2000, 2001 and this year, Rich
Stark has won every 10K the Witch's Hat Run has offered in the 21st
Century. A Witch's "hat trick," so to speak. This 11th annual event, which drew 512 runners this year, is named
after a 100-year-old train depot that looks like a witch's hat.
Stark, who also won several Witch's Hats in the '90s, topped masters
champ Doug Goodhue of Highland, and Yoshiaki Kogi. No 10K times
were available.
For the women, Pamela Burns earned her first 10K win here, with
Maggy Zidar and Mary VanGordon crossing second and third.
Derek Stern won the men's 5K in 16:29, followed by Ben Greinke
(17:13) and Miles Tharp (17:33). Top women were Monica Czerwinski
(20:24), Kristen Zdanowski Naidoo (20:55) and Deanna Asbury (21:10)
